One of the world’s largest social media platforms has a new owner, and it’s none other than the richest person in the world. If he wasn’t before, he is now.
Elon Musk Owner/Founder/CEO of Tesla Motors is now the official owner of the social media giant Twitter, Inc. Musk purchased Twitter for $43 billion on April 25, 2022.
Musk’s first official duty after the acquisition is to enhance features, rid of spam bots, and authenticate all humans in the process.
Musk is a high advocate of ‘free speech’ and released a statement saying, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
He goes along to say, changes need to be made. Musk feels like the previous/current version of Twitter is not living up to its potential.
Musk announced he will make Twitter from its current state of public and change it to private. By doing so there will be trust building with users. It will also help with his vision of free speech throughout the platform.
