Last Saturday, two teenage males both age 13 were arrested and charged with counts of armed carjacking with a gun. Police reported that one of the teenagers is from the district while the other is from Brandywine, Maryland.
The two young teems reportedly approached the victim with a gun shortly after after 7 p.m. and told the victim to get out of the car. They then proceeded to try and flee with the vehicle, but when that attempt failed, they fled on foot and were soon detained.
Surprisingly this isn’t the first instance of this happening. One week earlier, two girls who were 13 years old and 15 years old did the same thing in approaching a victim with a gun and taking their vehicle and trying to flee; however, they ended up killing 66-year-old Uber Eats driver Mohamed Anwar.
The mayor of Washington has been criticized for the lack of input on the situation to which she tweeted out “Auto Theft is a crime of opportunity. Follow these steps to reduce the risk of your vehicle becoming a target. Remember the motto #Protectyourauto.”
The teens from Friday’s incident do not have a court date scheduled yet.
