Shortly after Christmas break, the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans men’s basketball team were ready to start conference play against Lyon College which they lost 75-50. After that, the Trojans endured a loss at home one more time in a close game against Williams Baptist University, and then they had a three game week ahead of them.
The Trojans went on the road to beat Harris-Stowe State University, 77-61. Then they suffered a loss with a heartbreaking buzzer beater vs Columbia College, 68-66. Next the Trojans got a win in overtime against University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St.Louis, 75-72. Unfortunately things did not continue to go well for the Trojans after that as they lost the next 4 games.
Coach Durst had this to say about the losses: “At this point it’s more of an effort thing. We know that we can win games and compete with good teams. We just have to have all of our players show up and give their absolute maximum effort and be able to execute the system we have in place and finally close by doing the little things that matter like not turning the ball over and making sure to not give the other team any extra opportunities.”
The Trojans next game is on the 11th on the road against Columbia College. You can watch games live at http://www.hlgtrojans.com.
