The Hannibal-LaGrange University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams traveled to Joplin, Missouri to run in the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championships. The meet was at the Seneca Cross Country Course. The school that hosted was Ozark Christian College and Joplin Sports Authority.
This was a challenging race for the men’s side, 8k worth of distance. HLGU men’s team showed they were up to the challenge finishing 3rd out of 8 teams. With the team being small in numbers, all racers for HLGU had to give top scores, and they did that. HLGU had two All Americans, Alec Whitener who finished 2nd overall and Garrett Rhine who finished 10th overall.
On the women’s side, they showed that HLGU was there. Their race distance was a 5k, an amount they easily do everyday for practice. The girls finished 4th out of 5 but were just three points shy of being 3rd overall as a team!
HLGU Trojans will now be getting ready to give it their all in April for the NAIA National Championships. Until then, they will practice through winter to stay at the top of their game.
