The HLGU Men’s and Women’s basketball teams have wrapped up its 2019-20 home games. Both squads matched up against Park University for the last time this season in Mabee Sports Complex.
Women’s, Loss 61-75
After earning a road win against the Pirates, the Lady Trojans were unable to come away with a season sweep. The Trojans competed well during the game but just fell short during the second half. Park outscored Hannibal 35-29 during the second half of play. Emma Anderson led HLG on the court once again. She finished the competition with 17 points. Freshman guard, Jillian Lockard, also put up 14 points and 9 rebounds. The Trojans lost to the Missouri Baptist Spartans on the road in its final game of the season. Kelly Quigle will look to boost the roster this offseason with recruiting looking ahead to the 2020-21 campaign.
Men’s, Loss 59-77
Hannibal had another slow start against a ranked opponent on Thursday night. The Trojans were outscored, 35-21, in the first half of play. HLG threatened a second half comeback only getting outscored 42-38. Park University came into the competition ranked 23rd in the latest NAIA rankings. Grant Peters was up for the challenge scoring 23 points, shooting 11-13 from the field. The Pirates shot exceptionally well from the field shooting 54% from the field. Hannibal also lost their season finale on the road to Missouri Baptist University.
Jason Durst and the Trojans will travel to St. Paul, MN to compete in the NCCAA North Central Regional.
