“Good government should get out of the way of good people. I am running for 5th District State Representative to help our citizens to realize a better future by fighting to lower your taxes, eliminate job-killing regulations, fully-fund public education, and to find better ways of paying for our roads and bridges.” -Louis Riggs, MO State House Representative
After six months of campaigning, knocking on doors, and winning the hearts of several thousand rural Missourians, Mr. Louis Riggs has be elected as a Missouri State Representative, and now his new duties await him.
Throughout his campaign, Riggs had been involved in community development organizations throughout the state of Missouri including the Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce, Marion County University of Missouri Extension Council, Northeast Missouri Development Partnership, and Missouri Community Betterment, Inc.
He has operated a small business and has served as an educator at Hannibal-LaGrange University for more than 11 years. He is listed as a faculty member in the English Department.
So, how will his new position affect his job at HLGU? Riggs is not 100% percent sure yet, but is looking at the possibility of teaching a hybrid course with both online and in-person components.
Along with the course, Riggs mentioned a possible opportunity for students to intern in Jefferson City in the future.
